About

UPGRADES AND NEW FEATURES IN EACH SOFTWARE VERSION

Continued innovation and excellence!

Continuing with our dedication and passion for deep excavations, we continue our research and development and we are excited to introduce new unique features that extend the software capabilities.

Here, we present what software features have been added and improved throughout years in every DeepEX software program version since 2014. At Deep Excavation LLC, we always try to keep our software programs updated and enhanced to the latest scientific methods and design codes, as well as, we are committed fix any possible issues that might appear.

Developing such a user-friendly software program for geotechnical design and analysis, with many estimation tools, graphical interface and verified accuracy, is a sophisticated procedure. In DeepEX we combine the latest scientific methods in geo-engineering practice with unique personal engineering experience. We are grateful for all our customers that support us all these years and their feedback is very much appreciated.

The following paragraphs present most of the new features that were added in each software version and newly released additional optional modules, as well as, the major fixed issues throughout the years. Apart from the mentioned major changes, each and every year we include some minor changes that target to make the software more user-friendly and powerful.

What in new in each Version 2021

1. NEW FEATURES IN DEEPEX 2021 (IN COMPARISON WITH PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSIONS)

  1. Multi-Core Analysis - Speed up calculations.

  2. Chicago CTA apparent earth pressure diagram and methods..

  3. Improved slope stability automatic search procedure.

  4. New Structural Codes: AASHTO LRFD 9th load combinations, AASHTO LRFD 9th steel design.

  5. New Structural Codes: BS 6349 Parts 1-2 Load combinations for Marine Structures and Quay Walls

  6. New Option in FEM Analysis - SSHS model.

  7. Splays in Frame Module to provide increased open spacing.

  8. Design of Tunnels with the Finit Element Analysis Module.

  9. Draw existing tunnels in 3D for visualization in HoloDeepEX in 3D, augmented reality or virtual reality.

  10. Prestressed Concrete and GFRP Walls & Piles.

  11. Import 3D Buildings from Google Maps.

  12. Google Maps Project Placement.

  13. New Module: Marine Walls - Quay Walls - Wave Pressures & Overtopping.

  14. New Module: Steel Connections.

2. NEW FEATURES IN DEEPEX 2020 (IN COMPARISON WITH PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSIONS)

  1. New analysis methods for NYCT DEP.

  2. Timber struts, rakers, and walls.

  3. Improvements on multiple stepped walls.

  4. New wizard options for multiple stepped walls.

  5. Improvements and additions for exporting project plan to DXF.

  6. View boreholes and geotechnical investigation data in 3D and virtual reality.

  7. Updated concrete codes: ACI 2019.

  8. Updated AASHTO LRFD 8th edition.

  9. Additional FEM capabilities, partial consolidation, speed, mesh generation.

  10. Model base soil pressures in base slabs, and soil-structure interaction in FEM.

  11. Tiedowns for base slabs.

  12. Include pile rows for base slabs (independent from walls).

  13. Include pile rows for slope stability (independent from walls).

  14. Type to create a model: Instead of using your voice, you can now type a logical phrase and you can create a model. For example, you can type “create a 30 foot deep excavation with struts” and DeepEX will automatically generate a model for you.

  15. Google maps project image.

  16. Scaled picture images for project image.

  17. New Module: Soil estimation reporting and statistical analysis.

3. NEW FEATURES IN DEEPEX 2019 (IN COMPARISON WITH PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSIONS)

  1. Model train and train embankment loads directly with AREMA and other methods.

  2. Multiple walls and multiple stepped walls.

  3. DXF drawings for plan views, elevation drawings to DXF. From plan view and 3D model, export drawings to DXF. Elevation drawings options.

  4. Improved all project types and models generated with the Model Wizard.

  5. Import elevation survey data into 3D Frame Analysis Module.

  6. Added features to the 3D Frame Analysis: Load rebalancing, automatic generation of struts for complex wall perimeters.

  7. Improved diagnostic features.

  8. Improved HoloDeepEX (holographic representation of 3D models created by DeepEX 3D Frame Analysis module). View buildings and adjacent pile foundations in 3D and virtual reality.

  9. Updated Sheet pile section lists.

  10. New Module: Finite Element Analysis (to be released in February).

  11. New Module: Pile Supported Abutments.

4. NEW FEATURES IN DEEPEX 2018 (IN COMPARISON WITH PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSIONS)

  1. Improved speech recognition commands and interactions.

  2. DXF drawings for plan views, elevation drawings to DXF.
    From plan view and 3D model, export drawings to DXF. Elevation drawings to be added soon in a free upgrade

  3. Support points for struts in plan-view.

  4. Provide intermediate supports in the 3D plan view for struts to reduce the unbraced length.

  5. Reductions in axial loads on walers (3D).

  6. Reduce the axial force on walers due to static friction.

  7. Improved report output: Condensed quick input/output summary.

  8. Improved 3D Frame Analysis module.

  9. Improved all project types and models generated with the Model Wizard.

  10. Structural Steel Code Updates: AISC 2016.

  11. New Wall Types: Secant walls with different reinforcement for main & secondary piles.

  12. Automatic optimization with depth change for supports.

  13. DeepEX will vary the support elevation to achieve minimal wall moment, or cost (for 1 support level).

  14. Distribution load approach on surcharge for 3D loads.

  15. Soil mix block walls.

  16. Base resistance for wall embedment safety factor calculations when embedded walls are end bearing.

  17. Inclined walls from vertical axis.

  18. CIRIA recommendations.

  19. Additional options for recent CIRIA C760 publication such as geotechnical axial capacity of walls.

  20. New water flow analysis options.

  21. New diagnostic features added.

  22. New module: Finite Element Analysis.

  23. New software: HoloDeepEX (holographic representation of 3D models created by DeepEX 3D Frame Analysis module).
