Modeling Secant and Tangent Pile Walls in DeepEX


A. Introduction


DeepEX can be used for the design of any common wall type (soldier pile and lagging walls, sheet pile walls, secant pile walls, tangent pile walls, combined sheet pile walls (king piles), concrete diaphragms (slurry walls) and more. Moreover, it can analyze any common support system (braced excavations with steel struts and rakers), anchored walls (tiebacks and helical anchors), top-dowm excavations with concrete slabs, dead-man walls, bin-type walls and more).


In this training video, we illustrate the different secant and tangent pile types that can be simulated within DeepEX, as well as, how to edit the pile section properties (pile reinforcement type, pile spacing options, diameter and nnumber of unsupported piles and more).


In general, the piles in DeepEX can be unsupported (plain concrete), reinforced concrete (concrete piles with steel rebar longitudinal and shear reinforcement), or reinforced with steel beams (H-Beams, Channel sections, Piles, Rectangular Steel Sections). In addition, DeepEX can design piles with combined reinforcement (reinforced concrete and steel beams).


In DeepEX, we can quicly define an offset berween consequent tangent piles. Moreover, we can define the number and the diameter of the unreinforced piles for secant pile walls.
