A. Project Description
This design example presents a case with an anchored secant pile wall, supporting a 30ft excavation. Three soil layers are considered, and a 3D Building load is included at the top. This example focuses on the slope stability analysis of the model support system The figure below presents the completed excavation model.
The model analysis is performed with the Limit Equilibrium Analysis method. For the slope stability analysis, we used the circular surface option of the software, performing the analysis using the Morgenstern-Price (General Limit Equilibrium) method.

DeepEX can perform full structural and geotechnical design ot all project items (walls and supports). The calculated wall results (soil and water pressures, wall moment, shear and displacement diagrams, support reactions, structural and geotechnical check ratios and more) can be presented both in tables and graphically on the model area. The slope stability analysis results (most critical slope surface, slope stability safety factor, slope slices results) can be displayed on the model area.
In DeepEx 2D Sections, the local project X-Axis is placed along the user screen. For the examined design section and the 3D loads (like buildings and footings), we can define the exact positions along the local Y-Axis as well (Axis perpendicular to screen). The following image presents the building and Design Section Y-Coordinate in the current example.
DeepEX can analyze and present results for all construction stages, allowing the designer to review the full project history and take important descisions for the most efficient model optimization. We can select in which construction stages we wish to perform the slope stability analysis. In addition, in different stages we can design different settings for the slope surfaces search and for the slope stability analysis method. The following images illustrate some of the calculated results, both with and without the presence of the building.
