Soldier pile design requires that we carefully consider a number of factors. As designers we have at a minimum to size up the soldier piles, the lagging, and determine the required wall embedment. We also need to consider wall and surface displacements as well as global stability. In this day we have to be efficient to stay competitive. For this reason and for the last eighteen years we have provided our deep excavation software with advanced soldier pile design capabilities.

Not all soldier piles are the same, different conditions require that we use different types of soldier piles. In the US the most common soldier pile walls use steel H beams. In other parts of the world, where labor costs are smaller, drilled reinforced concrete piles are more common. DeepEX can handle it all.
In general, the soldier piles in DeepEX can be unsupported (plain concrete), reinforced concrete (concrete piles with steel rebar longitudinal and shear reinforcement), or reinforced with steel beams (H-Beams, Channel sections, Piles, Rectangular Steel Sections). Finally, we can use timber piles (wood).
The steel beams in DeepEX are by default driven steel sections. We can convert easily the driven piles to drilled, by changing the pile width to the pile of the drilled whole. This option takes into consideration the concrete cover below the excavation for the wall embedment calculations.
In DeepEX we can use timber lagging (wood), steel plate lagging or reinforced concrete panels. The software can design the lagging, calculated the applied loads and the capacity, depending on the selected lagging type.
